This course is designed to give the smart meter installers the knowledge and skills to install, service, and repair gas central heating systems and boilers.
Why this course?
CMA was designed for the install and exchange of gas meters. CMA is not a new course and has been around for quite a number of years. The introduction of the governments Smart meter programme saw a huge influx in this qualification, resulting in the industry being flooded with engineers with this qualification. The whole Smart meter programme is due to be completed in 2025 leaving the smart meter industry with excess engineers, resulting in engineers being out of work as they will not be able to carry out work on gas appliances. This course provides the learner the skill, knowledge, and qualifications to do so and extend their qualification scope. If a learner was to undertake this training now then they would be ahead of the game and building up their knowledge and experience ready for the Smart meter completion.
What does the course cover?
- Refresher training on Flues, then more detailed training on the inspection and testing and installation of fluing systems
- Gas safety control systems for identification and testing
- Gas appliance training. For central heating boilers.
- Central heating system design theory and practical tasks including installing heating systems
- Electrical theory and how to use a multi-meter
- S and W plan wiring installation
- Boiler component removal and testing
- Boiler fault finding
After Qualifying
Additional appliances can be added at an additional cost IE CKR1, HTR1. Each appliance will have half a day training and half a day assessment. Most engineers will ask for HTR1 and CKR1 at the same time. This will be one full day of training and one full day of assessments. We can run 1:3 ratio on this
